I first discovered welding during Ag Class in high school, and while I initially enjoyed using the cutting torch, I’ve since come to appreciate welding as a form of art. Over the years, I’ve always enjoyed building things, and this craft has become my passion.
With 36 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, my career began in a fab shop working with pressure vessels at 18 years old. After 33 years on the road with my rig, I’ve worked across various sectors, including plants, compressor stations, offshore, pipeline work, and ironwork buildings, all while mastering the welding of alloys and heli-arc. My recent years have been focused on repair welding, and I bring expertise in reading film and more.
Outside of welding, you’ll find me either working on my Jeep or at the gym.
What I enjoy most about teaching at Western Welding Academy is watching students take what I teach and transform it into something real. It’s incredibly rewarding to see their eyes light up when things click for them. I’m passionate about passing on my knowledge of the trade, and as someone who’s very old school, I take pride in my ability to weld anything, including specialized metals, and in having such a wide range of field experience.
